I really didn't think it would be that hard to understand. The EU are tired of perfidious Albion expecting them to fix problems the UK creates. They really don’t need UK more than the UK needs them. The UK has taken up a huge amount of their bandwidth with brexit, for what?!

It's so tiresome that I think it will need a change of personnel on the EU side for them to even consider getting stuck back in. They're in no hurry to relitigate the whole thing while they have bigger fish to fry.

It was in that vein. But the EU are so very tired of all this. The TCA is as about as good as it gets bar some minor tinkering unless there's a strong commitment for close alignment. Which there isn't. UK put itself in this position.

Strategically it's a fair point, but I don't blame them for like they've had their fingers burned. They had to waste years dealing with a belligerent UK.
