lots of mystery (I always loved mysteries), and historical period dramas (we need more of them imo). But my mom's tastes in dramas/movies are a complete opposite to mine, so it's impossible to watch something that both of us can enjoy😣

... or maybe those actors speak English that way in movies/TV because the directors directed them to speak that way? I get it for character reasons, but I hear it that way in way too many movies/dramas like this. It's cliche and it's cringy imo😣

No one speaks English that way. Speaking a foreign language shouldn't be used as some kind of status symbol. We learn them because we want to expand our communication skills to others who don't speak the same language. We also learn them because we're interested in the culture-
