Exactly. The point was to make the case to the public that the GOP is willing to do these things, not to actually allow the GOP to do these things.
Hopefully Tuesday has Republicans worried & makes them more willing to bargain.

I've gotten into it w them before, about a month ago, bc they were basically saying Pritzker should press the issue until it turns violent, & I was like, WTF that's insane.

There was a piece in The Atlantic from 2022 that really stuck w me, except I think it was too narrow. I think the pandemic made it legible, but I think it applies just as much to guns as it does disease & vaccinations, & I had just never thought of it in those terms before.
