A counterfeit prophet runs when no one sends him, speaking “thus says the Lord” when the Lord has not spoken. True ministry is an outflow of divine commission, not a pursuit of human acclaim.

The Church is using twenty-first-century methods to deliver an eighteenth-century message, but we must be careful not to let the medium overshadow The Message. Don’t let the new age distract you from the timeless Jesus!

If the message points more to the messenger than to the Messiah, it is not the sound of the true shepherd, but the voice of a hireling. The test of authenticity is the degree to which Christ is exalted and the self is eclipsed.
