I finished a new #sculpture, finally, of polished steatite with copper leafing on the interior and a copper roofing nail running through it. It's called Anthem, after the Leonard Cohen song. "There is a crack in everything, it's how the light gets in". #art

A polished black stone which has been hollowed out. Three holes in the front reveal the interior which is partially cover in copper leaf. A copper roofing nail runs through the stone from the upper left to the lower center, where it anchors the stone to the wooden base. The same sculpture from a three-quarter profile view, revealing another hole on the upper part of the stone, through which the nail protrudes. Light enters the stone and the copper gleams within. The same sculpture from the right, revealing another hole in the lower portion of the stone. The holes in the front are also visible. The shape of the stone is rounded and the surfaces flow into each other. A view from the right rear side, revealing another hole in the stone in the upper part of the back face. The copper leaf glows like the inside of the stone is on fire.

Small collage in vertical portrait orientation, roughly divided into 2 columns. The first column at around 1/3 width has images of cherubs, Michelangelo's David, an owl, architectural fragments and "The Death of Marat" all overlaying an image covering the right-hand column, of a nude woman, seen from the rear, fixing her hair in a nearly full-length mirror. The right-hand column from the top to the woman's feet has been given a greenish tint as if the light were filtered, that tint extends in places on to the images on the left and highlights their edges. Below her feet a thin line of ink/paint extends across a largely unpainted background as if pooling at the base and extends to almost the full width.
