First snow of the season at Lake Sutherland, WA. We're happy to see it, but it's very late and doesn't portend good snow pack in the Olympic mountains, which means rivers will be very low in late summer, affecting water supply for Port Angeles.

Number 3 in my top 10 of 2024 is the iconic amanita muscaria mushroom. It was a banner year for fungus on the Olympic Peninsula, with unusual August rains leading to an explosion of mushrooms in September and October!
