In elementary school, my teacher told me that the special thing about American democracy is that anyone can be President. "Even you!" she said, as she pointed to each of us.

She failed to tell us that one of the greatest horrors of American democracy is, likewise, that any buffoon can be President.

My law firm, Parsons Behle & Latimer, has a 143-year record of supporting the downtrodden; finding talented lawyers regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation; and being awesome.

This should not put us at risk of being attacked by the government. I can't believe this is controversial.

There are snakes in Ireland. It's a fake miracle, people! Maybe we should have a St. Brian's Day - Look, I just drove all the rats from L.A.!

Reciprocal tariffs? What is Trump even talking about?

We had reciprocal tariffs - zero tariffs! We had the USMCA, which was signed by President Trump, which created a free trade zone with mutual reciprocal zero tariffs.

True, Trump is playing three-dimensional chess in his head, but unfortunately, the game he's playing with people's livelihoods is lawn darts.

Trump's enablers don't actually believe any of the things they are saying. They are just too spineless to stand up to Trump and his pal Putin. Marco Rubio knows perfectly well that he is endangering the world by doing this, but he lacks a spine and is too interested in keeping his job.

Imagine for the last 45 years, being Ringo Starr, and dreading every time that someone says, "Oh no, one of the Beatles has died!" and knowing that everyone's reaction is and always has been "Damn, I hope it's not John, George, or Paul."

This takeaway is so on-the-nose:

"If democracy can elect a black man to the Presidency, we must get rid of democracy."

Yep, that about sums it up for this country.

Follows a 🧵 explaining how stupid Donald Trump is for imposing a tariff on steel and aluminum. The tariff protects American steel makers - raw materials. This industry employs approximately 84,000 people, or approximately half the number of people that work for Arby's.

The President cannot disband a federal agency that was created and funded by Congress and signed into law by a previous President.

This is President Trump disobeying the law, pure and simple.

I wish NPR would report this in their stories: they should have a first-year law student on staff.

I'm actually OK with Trump's plan to ditch the U.S. one cent piece (popularly known as the penny, which it is not).

This ends the list of things upon which I agree with the President.
