Ecological psychologist just trying to make psychology better at explaining us. I study the perceptual control of action and get cranky about politics and AI technologies. He/him
Literally just watched the episodes he’s in today 😂

Same

I enjoyed this :) I don’t think it quite fully hangs together, but you definitely reminded me of some things that feed into it
January 30, 2026 at 7:33 PM
This is fine. But also we see people double tap, no control, to multiple places

Well hang in - Linus’s problems actually point to the tech *not* working by itself happily. He was doing something wrong!

To be fair to me, I had the same problems with the Nemesis one

Also I don’t recall these transporter techs in this eps of voyager?

This one helps more
January 30, 2026 at 7:29 PM
Ok, so this doesn’t help you I don’t think - it’s still the ship generating the power and controlling the transport, just not stopping at the transporter room

I’ve seen people ragging on the three who went but I honestly think it’s funnier than zero going 😂
January 30, 2026 at 5:28 PM
That’s fair. I disagree that eco psych has to abstract away from the organism but also we do tend to focus on affordances over organism dynamics in research (it’s just not all we do :) But if enactivism works better for you, that’s cool, it’s the right kind of approach at least!
January 30, 2026 at 5:27 PM
Damn, that’s a pretty good rate!

I do think it depends a little on what you want to do of course. But the various papers trying to connect to see two always hinge on something I think is a mistake so I’m yet to be convinced
January 30, 2026 at 4:49 PM
I haven’t read this one in full but I’m not hugely moved by appeals to unite with enactivism, mostly because I think I’m a Turvey realist who has yet to hear anything convincing 😂 Affordances as relations is often pitched as a reason for us to connect, but given I think that approach is wrong…🤷‍♂️

I loved my time in Bloomington, IU was the most amazing intellectual experience I’ve ever had. I’d never been anywhere so…interesting and confident in itself. It really seems to have thrown a lot of that away :(
January 30, 2026 at 4:27 PM
Sad, even
January 30, 2026 at 2:43 PM
It’s been said to watch IU get so shitty like this :(
