Absolutely! Many want to review that don't get invited. Some of us have created online lists for reviewers to sign up, and they are a success with many ERCs signing in. I'll share them shortly.

I think a lot feel their their efforts deserve (and they do) an evaluation by labs they are inspired by, so they suggest top of mind reviewers. AEs need better tools to locate reviewers that are excited to be involved with the literature they love. Speaking from my own experiences only.

I imagine that there is an increase (sensu @comecology.bsky.social), however I am convinced there are lots out there never being asked. I remember my colleagues drowning in requests while I only did 1 year-1. I sent an open letter to journals volunteering my expertise. Only one journal responded.
