Except, as he returned to his prey, the glint of the steel hilt was nowhere to be found. His blood froze as a shadow passed over him. A ripple of water further announced a foreboding presence. *No... I was sure...* She was recognizably humanoid enough. Nudity tempered by chitinous ridging all along her body. A long powerful body made sharp with defined muscle and insectile armoring. Striking, scowling amber eyes upon a sharp, hauntingly fey visage. Her face was framed in twitching curling segmented horns, and wet hair. Beauty, if it was defined only in words of violence. The worming mass squirmed from the water, still bearing the marks of the battle. Its snaking form trailed around them, joining at the small of her back. Talon tipped, roach-scale armored fingers ripped The intruding blade from her tail, callously dropping it back into the swamp. This was no mindless beast. Her deception had proven otherwise.

A titanic roar of rent air muffled ever so through the cockpit systems. The Deific silhouettes shrank upon the image projected on the 360 view screen. Now only the laborious footsteps of giants, arraying into orderly lines. The increasingly vanishing dots still read their callsigns. The simple, readable text box feels humorously sacrilegious. *KERAUNIOS* *PENTHESILEA* *STYX* *tap tap TAP tap tap...* Restless rhythmic piano taps. fingers upon inactive haptics. Aegis Unit was the among the first gathered at this assembling parade of toys. Our *dear Lord's* Voice calling us to bear, to fire up reactors and be at the ready. If Magdalene had to guess, the vanguard of champions received similar "wisdom." Launching and readying a banner class can't be a simple process, and they were on the move way too soon. For a moment the pilot whimsically wondered if she and and her sisters were called upon before or after the champions of the pantheon. Lord Athena's own Sacrificial spears, or another Lords esteemed pilot? "We've never been called directly to the front by Lord Athena..." My Sister's soft voice rings through our private frequency, heavy with a gravity and respect that makes Magdalene's stomach churn. Chrysanthi's ice breaking question mirrors Magdalene's own thoughts. Her sister had a way of always known the questions burning behind her eyes. The offbeat ditty of tapped plastic ceased, her nerves settled. Despite knowing that no cockpit feeds were active, Magdalene still straightens her back before replying. She smiles, imagining her sisters gaze on her own eidolon, looking to her for strength. "Never to let us just sit idle on a defensive line. Never Imagined 'Old Grey' would be playing it by ear." She could feel Chrysa's nose scrunch at the epithet. A bark of laughter marked her twin Adamantia entering the conversation. Imagine if the gathered Eidolon Pilots knew what Athena's mysterious "Aegis unit" talked about; muttering old curses at their own lord. "...No. there." A machine blip and an marker on the horizon. *Dust devil...? ...oh. I see.* She didn't have to wait long for Chrysa's explanation. "....Camouflaged, like the one who snuck on the wall." None of them needed to voice the rest. *The one who tried to take the life of a lord and a champion.* Chrysanthi could sing us the prettiest anthem to drive us forward. Collectively, we need no other motivation than the burden of consequence. *Irreplaceable lives will be lost...* "Shit, Old Gray. You've never expected us to fight a Colossi on our own before..." Magda could *feel* the rising breath, the herald of protest from Chrysa's comm link. She didn't mean to say that out loud. Not that she expected Chrysa would snitch. Not that she would expect actual immediate consequences. It still wouldn't hurt to apologize and thank her. "I think you mean; It's time to get that kill tally." Adamantia's boast swoops in past any attempt at enunciating either of their thoughts. Aegis 2 joins her in swooping into her front view. It shared the long bodied chassis of Aegis 0. Where as unit 0 kept its base raptorial shape; unit 2 was allowed heavier rounder armor, and a stocky payload of missile bays to match. The very image of a powerful, broad shouldered owl. The Flowing cowl around it's shoulders certainly completed the image.
