You could put sheet metal screws in them! I (and a bunch of other folks I know) do this with our fancy running shoes in the winter for ice. “Screw shoes” there are some special made screws for it, but I just use the ones for gutters.

It's hard to argue that the city isn't complicit here. That's not ICE standing by themselves, SPPD are right there beside them.

Side benefit of this - it means you spent time thinking about how the system fits together before you move to a more robust database. Can’t count the number of issues I’ve dealt with in tables that we knew early on were imperfect, but couldn’t reliably change by the time they were actually problems.

I had a roommate in college who had a meal catch fire in a pan week 2. We were like, “dude, put it out!” Instead, he ran it outside and put on the ground. We were like, k, maybe just clean it? He was like, yeah I’ll do it in a few minutes. It was still there come spring when the snow melted.

But overall this aligns with my strategy for packing for trips with our kids too. They always need more than we pack 😅
