A red fox who likes antique radios and electronics. A tube radio is nice to curl up and sleep on in the wintertime :) Therian θΔ - Kanako fursuit by @xeshaire.bsky.social
I found up this beauty at a local auction just before AC. It is a 1933 Zenith but it was sold under the "Interocean" name which Zenith was using at the time. It is a 12 tube, 2 speaker radio and needs restoration. The speaker cones are lost as they are so brittle simply touching them they break.

What setting did I screw up to get this while trying to save an image in BlueSky? I can't find any setting to fix this problem.

That is the AC line adjustment rheostat. The primary is only 100 volts so it drops 20 in a big wire wound rheostat. You can see part of it in this pic.

I mounted the power supply onto an engine stand to make it easier to work on.

Here are two pics of what it looked like before. Missing veneer especially along the right edge and a strip along the back of the top. It had many places where the veneer was sanded through or burned.

A 1931 Kennedy model 826B which I picked up a couple years ago. It was in terrible condition but I took it to a guy in Dallas TX who is amazing at restoring these old radio cabinets. He replaced much of the veneer and brought it back as good as new! It is unique as it is an early Shortwave radio.

I gave the cabinet a good cleaning and I think it really came out nice.

I was given this little 1933 General Electrc floor model radio a bit over a week ago. A very low end model but it has potential I think! Someone told me it looks like it's in agony... O.o it is a model K-55 but it's the same basic radio as the RCA model 210.

I suppose I should post something. How about another beautiful old radio? A 1937 Stromberg Carlson 180P. It was one of their best models of that model year. 17 tubes and high fidelity features.

When your stopped and give the throttle a quick twist you can feel the torque. On the road I never notice it. But it definitely has solid acceleration.

This radio/phonograph is a huge beast! It is extremely large, extremely heavy, and as much as I don't like using the term, extremely rare. A 1927/28 Stromberg Carlson model 744. The power supply chassis weighs at least 125 pounds! (57 kg) I can't lift it alone. Advertised price Sept 1927 was $1245!

Here is the very first sketch in my sketchbook by Sue Deer at my first furry con which was Albany Anthrocon 1997. I still love this piece!

Another find, a 1928 Slagle radio made in Fort Wayne Indiana. Its a model 10-29B and uses the "Technidyne" license rather than RCA or Hazeltine. Very unique radio.

Hmm, I wonder which one I should keep? *ponders*

Another one followed me home. It is a 1933 Sentinel model 1040 which someone modified to have a phonograph in the top. This probably happened sometime in the 1940s or even 50s. Otherwise its all there and in nice shape. 10 tubes plus a neon tuning indicator called a Tune-A-Lite. also shortwave bands
