I highly doubt they'd recast him and not say anything. This was recorded during Wicked, so it's either him under a lot of vocal strain or in a different studio/different equipment, etc.

It also doesn't help it's in a content drought right now. The time to patch is not equal to the content it provides. It's actually upsetting.
