Especially older trans men who have transitioned later in life. My transition only started during the pandemic but I pass quite consistently now. But that doesn’t negate my 25 years of living as a black woman in the eyes of everyone else.

And they only listen to the opinions of those who fit that more feminine trans masc idea in their head and any passing trans man is seen as aggressive and exhibiting toxic masculinity. I think they are so quick to dismiss the experience these trans men had as women in this world.

I don’t care how or what people do when they transition, I just think it’s weird that I so often see these conversations happening among very certain kinds of people, who, imo, have very little to do with the experience of trans masc/trans men.

Obviously doing those things are up to each individual and their own decisions to make but it’s created a weird hierarchy where trans men or trans masc people that retain a more kind of traditional femininity (either by appearance or interests) are deemed “better” than those who don’t.
