A study from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health found that Flight Attendants in the U.S. have a higher prevalence of every cancer they studied, especially breast cancer, melanoma, and non-melanoma skin cancer.

Remember, AFA EAP is always available.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is something that affects all of us within our Flight Attendant community & world. Use this month to encourage your mothers, spouse, sisters, & flying partners to get an exam or perform a self-exam. www.afacwa.org/breast_cance...

🚨 Letter from all stakeholders in the airline industry on the impact of the looming government shutdown.

Not only would ATC Controllers, FAA inspectors, TSA Officers be forced to come to work without pay. NMB federal mediators who oversee our contract negotiations would be furloughed.
afacwa.org
Those who are required to work, like Air Traffic Controllers and TSOs, still don’t get paid during the shutdown. Safety is not a political game. As aviation’s first responders, we and our fellow aviation workers deserve better. The flying public deserves better, too.
afacwa.org
Aviation safety depends on government workers. Air Traffic Controllers, FAA Technicians, and Transportation Safety Officers, to name a few, all play a role in keeping our airspace safe. If the gov't shuts down, many of these essential workers won’t be allowed to work or get paid.
afacwa.org
A government shutdown doesn’t just put us at risk. It also has negative repercussions that last far beyond the shutdown itself.

No Shutdown. Don't Put Aviation Safety at Risk.

If you are a Flight Attendant or member of the public who would like to offer support, please contact our Union and do not post something publicly that could inadvertently harm their case.

There is a lot of hurtful and harmful speculation about the future of Spirit and the future of all the people who make it fly. The best way to support them is with facts and Solidarity.

AFA has expert bankruptcy counsel and has already successfully argued to lead the Creditor’s Committee. We are supporting Flight Attendants and encouraging all those who are able to bid for voluntary furlough in order to save jobs and mitigate harm.

Spirit Airlines Flight Attendants are navigating a very difficult bankruptcy that includes an announcement of 1800 furloughs.

14 Senators Sent Letter to PSA AIrlines CEO Urging Swift Action on Contract We write to express our concern regarding the prolonged contract negotiations impacting 1,700 flight attendants at PSA Airlines and urge you to negotiate a fair contract. It is disappointing to see that there has been little progress in finding an agreement after the flight attendants’ collective bargaining agreement became amendable over two years ago. We encourage you to urgently reach an agreement that acknowledges the vital contributions of these workers to the American Airlines network and the broader public. Under the Railway Labor Act, carriers and their employees are expected to make a reasonable effort to create and maintain collective bargaining agreements. Instead, the PSA flight attendants have been struggling to make ends meet under a current contract that is out of date, which includes pay and benefits well below the industry standard. Regional flight attendants perform more passenger boardings, but they work without boarding pay, which is also becoming a standard in the industry. PSA flight attendants have worked through operational dysfunctions, faced horrific tragedy, managed a surge of conflict and aggression by passengers, and carried the airline through all the good and bad times in between. They deserve your support, gratitude, and a fair return for their work, especially in light of their commitment in the wake of such a tragedy that occurred earlier this year. That is why we urge you to personally engage in negotiations and help find an agreement in a timely manner. We will be closely following the progress at the bargaining table and will be eager to see a fair agreement reached as soon as possible. We look forward to your response. Signatures of Sen. Tim Kaine, Sen. Chuck Schumer, Sen. Maria Cantwell, Sen. Tammy Duckworth, Sen. Angela Alsobrooks, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Sen. Mazie Hirono, Sen. Ed Markey, Sen. Jeff Merkley, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Chris Van Hollen, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren
