Grateful to have collaborated with SF State’s Bay Area Television Archive to digitize these important films produced by the Taller de Cine.

They produced collective works of militant cinema in the late 1980s that responded to the tensions and threats facing insurgent movements.

I *really* want more reporting on this because the book was pretty heavily vetted by lawyers in advance of publication….

This is so damn scary. The book claimed that Jeffrey Epstein was the one who introduced Donald and Melania. Now the CEO of Harper UK is out.

In other news Charlie Redmayne, the long serving CEO of HC in the UK, resigned yesterday.

This screening is extra special to me because it will be the last event I’m a part of *prior to* entering a new phase of life, so I am looking forward to hanging out with everyone who can make it <3

This program of films and verse was put together based on ongoing work with colleagues in Guatemala who were part of the Taller de Cine de la USAC in the 1980s, as well as with colleagues from the Cinemateca Universitaria, Guatemala’s national film archive.

We’re going to be screening films made by poets, lyrical documentaries made by filmmakers, and collaborations between filmmakers and poets engaging with Guatemalan national realities, social struggles, and political exile.

WSJ just retracted its report that the shooter’s ammo was engraved with “transgender and anti-fascist ideology.”

It smelled like bullshit from the beginning, and every conservative who ran with it should be shamed into obscurity.

Well, tongues are wagging on Kodak's revelation that they do not have the funds to cover their near half billion dollar debt. Kodak has stepped up and announced that restructuring and wringing money from the Kodak pension fund will cover it. #believeinfilm #kodak

It Miguel Ángel Asturias, Guatemalan literary artist, as he receives the Nobel Prize, discussing themes of Indigeneity and Guatemalan politics in his work. Stoked that it will be shown during Miguel Ángel Asturias *month* and that a viewing public can engage it after many decades of not being seen.

I had the privilege of assisting in the scanning process led by moving image archivist Alex Cherian at the Bay Area Television Archive. (looking forward to future collab with television archive)

Screened last night, this film was digitized, frame by frame, at SF State through an ongoing collaboration with the Cinemateca in Guatemala City. This collab is the product of many hours of work, planning, and solidarity on the part of participants, and this is the culmination of an *initial* phase.

I’m most excited about how this article thinks through the significance of Maya youths’ identity theorizations as acts of theory, and how we might rethink our own approaches to identity as a result. Please contact me if you have trouble accessing a copy, I’m happy to support via DM :)

It focuses on identity discourses that Maya youth engaged in across contexts in Oakland, Ca and Huehuetenango, Guatemala. Specifically, it analyzes how municipal distinctions were articulated that differ from the identity frameworks that many of us academics, educators, and activists use.
