It was because it is very difficult to keep a fractionaluzed coalition together and technocratic, deracialized populism was the lowest common denominator. The problem is that it lacks the emotional energy required to mobilize.

Trump will die one day. Trumpism is much more difficult to suppress because elites have learned that there are no limits and SCOTUS reinforces that notion. Will the "silent majority" the 60-65% of Americans who reject Trump, assert themselves? The time is now.
