I mean, I understand skepticism, but let’s use our head. When that stadium would otherwise sit empty, let’s conservatively estimate 20k people descend on Balt for a game. BWI gets business. Bars get business. Hotels. For one or two days, in the winter, OPaCY is a destination. And it looks cool

Pretty sure the Orioles re-sod the field every offseason. May as well have a last hoorah for the grass

This is only a practice, but if the dimensions work out, I could see in the future there being a college football bowl game at Camden Yards. And what a terrific venue that would be for a game

The MiLB transaction log shows that infielder Emmanuel Rivera and catcher David Bañuelos elected free agency Monday from the Orioles.

Rivera played 43 games this year in Baltimore and hit .250. Bañuelos was often a taxi squad catcher

The 97 mph slider mixed in later was a nice touch

This division series schedule makes no sense to me. Why have a day off for National League teams between game one and two, just to have another day off for travel? Why did American League teams not get that benefit and played two in a row? Why start Mil/Chi at 9 pm ET?

The Orioles agreed to a minor league deal with José Barrero, the team announces.

The 27-year-old was with Triple-A Norfolk briefly this season, playing 53 games with a .190 average. He plays infield and outfield

me, at 53:30: "Being optimistic is always a good thing, but healthy skepticism, and realizing that not everything they say is entirely true, and that they need to put their money where their mouth is, ultimately, is something Baltimore fans would tell Tampa Bay fans, and I think it's correct."

Me, at 42:30: "It is going to feel like a glorious moment at the very beginning. There will be trials and tribulations along the way. And the ultimate test of an owner is how do they respond when the going gets tough?..."

"How aggressive are they going to be to win a World Series?"

At the 37-minute mark, I discuss Orioles ownership on this Rays podcast, as the Rays are embarking on their own ownership transition. I think it was somewhat interesting: open.spotify.com/episode/5stw...

I say this because I wonder if teams are discovering how to better take advantage of the time off, ensuring they're prepared and not rusty

There's so much time left in the postseason, and this is a too-early-to-call observation. HOWEVER, teams with byes this season partook in scrimmages in the interim days to see live pitching and full crowds.

The Orioles in 2023 did not do that, as I recall. It was a less-serious workout.
