And with the 15z advisories -- #Hurricane #Imdelda & #Humberto are just 479 miles apart.

This might be the closest two simultaneous hurricanes have ever been in the Atlantic basin in the satellite era (since ~1975).

Close enough for their outer sfc circulations to interact as well.

Goals are to cut emissions from peak year (likely 2025) of 7-10% by 2035. The renewables goals are eye-popping though, especially compared to the capacity in other countries like the US.

In 2021, the blob -- aka marine heat wave in the Pacific -- killed over a billion sea creatures. www.scientificamerican.com/article/paci....

The Pacific "blob" is back, except this time it stretches across the entire North Pacific Ocean Basin. This is altering weather patterns, led to Japan's hottest summer on record, and could affect your winter weather too. Also hit hard is marine life. www.cnn.com/2025/09/19/c...

The Trump administration, from the CDC to EPA to NOAA, is going to war with established climate science.

I, along w/@blkahn.bsky.social @eroston.bsky.social, try to capture the big picture of what's already happened & what's at stake.

This is AI2ES, my AI institute. No way around it other than to say this is really awful. We are doing so many amazing things! We want to keep doing amazing things but without this level of funding, we will not be able to do so.

Another blow to meteorological R&D this morning, as it was confirmed that NSF is terminating funding for its main weather and earth science focused AI research institute led by the Univ. of Oklahoma. Also - a LOT of weather to talk about, especially in the West. More: https://tinyurl.com/mr2znbdb

The Department of Energy hired five academics to raise doubts about climate change. 85+ climate experts (organized by @andrewdessler.com) reviewed their report. Our conclusion, detailed in 450 pages of analysis: it is biased, full of errors, and not fit to inform policy making.

On July 29, 2025, the Department of Energy (DOE) published a report from its Climate Working Group (CWG). This report features prominently in the EPA's reconsideration of its 2009 Endangerment Finding...

For example, the comments fault the report for failing to note the acceleration in sea level rise, and for faulting climate models when in fact they have matched up well with reality www.cnn.com/2025/09/02/c... 4/4
