I said PTA is weirdly apolitical...not the right words...

But...it's hard not to think that he uses one thing to spring board into a goofy fairy tale stuff. He doesn't have that same striking energy that Altman had even though he's a massive fan. I need to read some more.

There's an interesting recent glut of films that I need to watch again...

And do well with what they have. But to have them fade away along with the weird Asian mockery humour found in Liquorice Pizza does feel odd.

Yet the modern underground network is fascinating in its own way. And Sean Penn's performance is just incredible.

But PTA has always been weirdly apolitical (in my eyes) with only There Will Be Blood feeling like a full on "statement".

PTA is also colourblind in a really odd way. There's four female POCs with integral roles in the movie. The film only really feels interested in one. The actresses are great...

As a massive PTA fan...of course I'm a huge fan of this movie. Has some Tarantino energy. Has some fairy tale like energy in there and the action is fantastic from someone who isn't an action director.

The AMBITION though, sir!*

*Nah. I get it. Esp when considering his latter films.

Don't worry, lads. Just a dusty room is all. Nothing wrong with my eyes.
