As someone working in law, it's scary how lazy people have gotten. It's not rocket science to use Lexis or Westlaw compared to LLMs. It was bad enough when lawyers and legal assistants were lazy and doing this, but for judges and courts to rule based on this mess...we are so screwed...

After being in the military, traveling overseas, and seeing the intellectual disparity between American and foreign media, I stopped reading US newspapers years ago. Reading Emily Bender in today's FT, who is a lot less charitable on AI than Dr. Marcus. NYT, clutch your pearls...

I used MS CoPilot on my Android phone (Fold 5). Every attempt looked like that picture with r's being ignored in "Orange" or "Strawberry". It seemed fond of "Kiwi" repeating it at the end of each one. Eventually it asked ME to move on rather than solve the problem.

Doesn't surprise me. I still have younger relatives (I'm a older Gen X) who ask me the most basic things. I'm like, I'm flattered you think I'm so smary but, uh, you do have an iPhone and Google and news apps, right?

I know. As scary as salmonella is, I wonder if we'll also see an increase in meat-based spongiform diseases ("mad cow") due to this administration.
