Our message to the Trump administration is clear: Fund the government. Fix the health care crisis. And put working people first. #StopTheTrumpShutdown

The same politicians responsible for the health care crisis are responsible for the government shutdown

Instead of lowering for working families, they’re making billionaires even richer. Tell Congress: Fund public services. Protect working families.

Tell Congress: Lower health care costs. Protect federal workers and fund public services.
Health care costs are about to skyrocket and this shutdown will directly threaten AFSCME members’ jobs as states and cities lose even more federal funding. Call Congress today!

These deals have traditionally been finalized weeks or months apart.

The combined strength of our Locals has resulted in comprehensive employment packages that reflect the power of Union solidarity.
afscmedc47.bsky.social
For the first time in our Union’s history, Locals 2186 and 810 came together for joint negotiations with both the City and the FJD at the same table. This historic collaboration allowed us to reach agreements on both economic and non-economic terms at the same time, a major achievement.

We’re proud to announce that tentative agreements have been reached between AFSCME and the First Judicial District, as well as AFSCME and the City of Philadelphia—simultaneously!

* Nursing homes and health clinics would be forced to cut services or even close
* Rural hospitals will lose funding and could drastically reduce care or shut their doors
afscmedc47.bsky.social
* 4.2 million families will be forced to drop coverage
* Millions will face an average 75% increase in health insurance premiums
* Well over 130,000 jobs could be lost – including AFSCME member jobs

If Congress doesn’t extend the ACA tax credits and restore funding to Disproportionate Share Hospitals (DSH):
afscmedc47.bsky.social
Without action from Congress, those tax credits will expire and critical funding for these hospitals will be lost, because Congress handed billionaires even more tax breaks through the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill.”
afscmedc47.bsky.social
Nearly 22 million Americans rely on premium tax credits through the Affordable Care Act marketplace to afford their health insurance. And millions more receive care thanks to Disproportionate Share Hospitals that serve low-income families.
afscmedc47.bsky.social
Working people are doing everything they can to get ahead, but the rising cost of health care is creating a crisis. Congress cut billions in funding for health care that will burden workers with skyrocketing costs and force hospitals and health centers to close – making our communities sicker.

4.2 million families will be kicked off their health insurance unless Congress acts fast to extend ACA tax credits.

The labor movement grieves all those who were killed in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001—including more than 600 members of our union family—and urges leaders to take the necessary steps so first responders and survivors can continue to heal. aflcio.org/press/releas...

One of the great challenges of our day is to combat the hatred, fear, and lies that generate profits for those seeking to divide us and keep us from uniting around a common good.

Working people will not be quiet – no matter how much they try to silence or divide us.

We condemn the Supreme Court’s decision to allow federal agents to profile people based on how we look, the language we speak, and the type of work we do. This is a dangerous attack on workers’ freedoms in Los Angeles and across the country, and our solidarity will not waver!

The White House wants to upend the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. They’re saying that if an employer doesn’t tow its ideological line, they’re going to prevent its workers from using PSLF. Tell the Department of Education to protect PSLF: act.afscme.org/letters/prot...

One of the strange contradictions of American life:

Nearly all our celebrities are union (athletes, actors, musicians..), polls show historic support for unions AND YET union membership falls every year, unions are villainized, and bargaining rights denied.

So…Go Eagles! And join a union.
