Did they not give anyone pronunciation guides for author and illustrator names at the YMAs this year? It sounded like people were struggling and a lot of names got said entirely wrong or slightly incorrect.

So for me to be able to log into my work email on my work computer… I now have to download the Microsoft authentication app (that I have no need for otherwise) onto my personal cell phone. This is a requirement. WTF. This is not ok.

I get WHY so many things are moving to multi-factor stuff for security. BUT they often force an employee to either download an app, or provide their personal cell number in order to comply. That winds up blurring the lines on what is personal/private property and what’s linked to your job.

My town’s online bill pay option SHUTS OFF after the bill due date, so you either have to mail in a check, or stop into town hall to pay in person. Why even have online bill pay then? I’ve been trying to pay our water/sewer bill for a week and kept getting errors online. So annoying.

Watching other local public libraries closing early around me while we remain open because city infrastructure has forced us to be an essential service during inclement weather is particularly frustrating.

Just got a letter in the mail from Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA about how they can’t reach an agreement with UMass & therefore our Dr won’t be covered. BCBS assigned us a new PCP… with a freaking telehealth Dr for virtual care. This country is a joke.

Well that ALSC/YALSA reunification town hall left me with the feeling that teen services representation within ALA as a whole is basically dead. Unless we pay to also join ALSC, YALSA members cannot vote in the next election cycle for the people who will be driving the bus for the first year. *sigh*

Yaaaaaay a full staff training about AI in the library. I can’t wait. 😩 It’s really disappointing how professional library organizations are pushing generative AI as a good thing for librarians (and everyone). Maybe this one will actually address how unethical and damaging it is.

Apparently no one in the Whole Foods plaza in Worcester feels like parking in actual parking spots today. Dude in a pickup just parked in the lane of traffic blocking me and two other cars. I had to go up to his window and ask him to move. Now at Starbucks & a truck is parked across 5 spots.

Dear Mother Nature, WHY is it so humid (over 70%) in New England when it’s practically October?! 😩

I can’t stop thinking about how, in a local news article, a rescue chose to vilify a dog they claimed BE on in an attempt to make themselves out to be the good guy. But in reality, that dog wasn’t a danger, was beloved by many, and slowly their shady actions are being made public.

A free and democratic society cannot silence comedians because the President doesn’t like what they say.

This is an attack on free speech and cannot be allowed to stand.

All elected officials need to speak up and push back on this undemocratic act.

Weeks later, I’m still reeling over being belittled, “fired”, & blocked from the animal rescue I spent so much time, emotional labor, & $ at over the last few years… all because I asked what happened to specific dogs that I had cared for. Shady shit is happening if my asking was crossing a boundary.

Reading an ARC of THE DEAD OF SUMMER by @ryanlasala.bsky.social and am now currently SOBBING at my desk (normal human tears so far, so I’m still safe), which is not what I was expecting from an oceanic Eldritch horror novel. OOF, who knew a Guns ‘N Roses song would make me weep?

Took husband to the ER at UMass in Worcester yesterday because his blood pressure was sky high & not coming down. They’re literally making ER patients STAND IN LINE waiting for triage. That alone took too long. Kicked him to the waiting room, said they’d retest in an hour… 2.5 hrs later no one came.

As of a few minutes ago, several sections have been deleted from the Constitution on the gov't's website, suggesting some things don't need congressional approval.

Key things, like:
Well here's a weird one...

Key sections from the U.S. Constitution have gone missing from the U.S. government's official website, including sections 8 through 10, which include legal provisions like habeas corpus (aka due process). The White House hasn't commented.

I’m really tired of being the reliable employee while others bail left and right regardless of coverage. Guess I’m doing prep work during my dinner break because now I’m on desk all day when I wasn’t supposed to be and the work I need to do can’t be done on desk.
