What an honour to be in the latest issue of Krytyka Prawa & among these authors. “Revisiting the ‘Menten Affair’”, about an extradition request made in the Cold War, was possible bc of the EHRI/Conny Kristel fellowship @niodamsterdam.bsky.social. It’s OA!

My morning read about Lucile Hadžihalilović’s “The Ice Tower” leaves me unsettled, intrigued, and wanting to see this movie. Great review @isaacfeldberg.bsky.social

Color me dazzled by Lucile Hadžihalilović's THE ICE TOWER, an unsettling hall-of-mirrors meditation on enchantment in the blinding lights of idolatry, cinema, and fantasy. One of the most dreamily arresting films you will see this year. My four-star review for @ebertvoices.bsky.social:

This is not so much a film you watch as one you wake up from, shivering.

Engaging with questions like “what is public law?” and “what is a constitution?” with first-year Public Law students is more meaningful than ever and the students are on 🔥. Friday afternoon ends on a high.
Whiteboard with words like “constitution” and “what is public law?”, “set of rules”, “human rights”, written on it.

This is one of the things I miss very much, still. Trees are so beautiful in urban spaces. Don’t get me started. I am like a child when I’m able to escape into a wood let alone a forest.

Good for you, and I agree 💯. Also, I want to be in your class, like rn, your students are so lucky Yuliya!

Weekend film viewing was a real treat, and thought-providing - whether it’s about redemption or fate. Two very different filmmakers, in both the characters are compelling. Monday starts with these films in my head, but that’s okay.
Man in bathtub with a book opened on a book stand on the bath and 12 small photos to the left hanging above the bath. Poster for the Wes Anderson film, The Phoenician Scheme. Profile of a man in a suit holding a gun. Poster for Michael Mann’s film, Collateral.

After what proved to be an intense build-up to hitting the submission button I think baking therapy is the best treat, so I made Prǎjitura cu mere, apple cake, thank you @irinageorgescu.bsky.social for this really wonderful recipe coming from Romania.
Apple cake, with three red apples on either side.

Sunday morning read about my hometown. What a time to be thinking about and trying to prepare public law materials.
