#ThinSectionThursday A Japanese Eclogite that was retrogressed to amphibolite and whose omphacite was transformed into barroisite. Lots of phengite and some garnet around as well.

#ThinSectionThursday A Japanese Eclogite that was retrogressed to amphibolite and whose omphacite was transformed into barroisite. Lots of phengite and some garnet around as well.

Very excited to cut into some rosebud agate from @rosebudagate.com this weekend or early next week. New saw blades on the way! I'll even be doing a test cut of some alibates flint I got from him as a sample as well! Good things are happening and moving forward slowly but surely!

Another @rosebudagate.com update!! So I rinsed all the agates after their vinegar bath and finally went through the rosebuds a little more. I found this one small piece of rough that I took a diamond grit hand sanding pad to and then popped the UV light on it and omg! #rockhound #agate #rosebudagate

These close ups are of a piece of rosebud agate I got from @rosebudagate.com one side is white and brighter and the other side is dark anddddd it's got this cute little botryodial pocket. I have them cleaning in vinegar atm so I will show them off properly in a couple days! Go grab some rosebud!!

With glaciers worldwide in retreat, you don't typically see moraine building. But at Yahtse Glacier, during my PhD project, we got a great look at the process responsible for so many critical reconstructions of glacier change and paleoclimate.

Here is some cell phone images of the shale with staurolite and garnets and other mineral inclusions. I have known this was here for so long even before I was really into rocks but I just never really went looking for it. I finally have some for my collection 😃 hope to find more soon! #rockhounding

Omg finally found some fellow Rock Hounds !! Here is one haul from a few days at my fav place to find beach rocks. Im always coming back with lots of stuff. Some get returned but most get kept to be used and polished. Excited to share my journey with you all! 😁

Ever heard of Rhode Island's state rock? It's cumberlandite! This unique, iron-rich rock is found only in the state. Its distinctive look, with white crystals (often plagioclase feldspar) contrasting against a dark background, makes it easy to spot.
