The fact that she is more loyal to Trump than our Constitution tells me everything I need to know about Pam Bondi.
agenation.bsky.social
We don't need the Epstein Files to convict Trump - we just need a Congress that will, and a SCOTUS who will support their decision.
agenation.bsky.social
Trump is the reason Americans don't do anything Trump is doing.
agenation.bsky.social
Here's my response. "You're in contempt. Baliff, arrest Ms. Bondi."

Let her sit in jail for a while and think about the importance of answering the people's representatives, and losing that smartass arrogant attitude.

What will help, and the ONLY thing that will help is to find a president that can LEAD the nation to understand that both sides are going to have to work together to fix this deficit spending we seem to love.
agenation.bsky.social
Why are we even arguing about a budget that has a 1.6T deficit?

Because no one wants to take the political hit for fixing it.

That is the darnned honest truth right there.

If we pull every politician out and put new ones in there, it won't make a bit of difference.

Democrats propose we protect social services (see above), raise more revenue through tax reform (tax the rich), and reduce spending on fossile fuel subsidies, trim defense spending, and reform farming/coproate welfare programs.

In a nutshell.

Democrats are going to try to cut things like:

Defense (selectively), fossil fuel subsidies, corporate tax loopholes

And protect things like:

Social programs, education, healthcare
agenation.bsky.social
What do Democrats value in the budget?

Democrats want to invest in people - help them get an education, a job, or food, healthcare, etc.

Republicans give money to business to create more jobs so people can buy what they need instead of getting it from government.
agenation.bsky.social
Republicans want smaller government, and tax cuts.

They spend on military, veterans, and border security.

No direct cuts to medicare, some to Medicaid (ACA expansion, and increase work requirements), and make cuts to welfare.

its more involved than that, but that will do for now.
agenation.bsky.social
the bulkd spending goes here:

Social Security is an earned benefit. It was paid for. You can't tough that without breaching a trust.
Medicare & Medicaid stabilize hospitals, rural clincs, and an aging populations.
Welfare and Snap - Infrastructure and stabilizers.

Can't tough this.

Here we go

If we spread the amount out evenly, we would have reduce everything by 300B in each category

social security - -300B
medicare - - 300B
interest on debt - etc.
Non-defense discretionary
Defense
Other mandatory programs.
Medicaid
agenation.bsky.social
If we spread that 1.8T deficit over the categories that are not fixed debt, then we have to reduce each category by the following amount. (Not practical, but an exercise to see how far away we are from a blanced budget.)

Go to next post...
agenation.bsky.social
Here we go.

Social Security is 22% of the budget. (1.573T)
Medicare is 16%
interest on debt 14%
Non-defense discretionary 14% (Education, et al)
Defense 12% (Personnel + contractors)
Other mandatory programs. 12% (Veterans, food assistance, employment)
Medicaid 9%
agenation.bsky.social
USA has a budget of 7T, on revenue of 5.2T giving us a deficit of 1.8T. (AI source)

Where does the money go? (In order)

social security
medicare
interest on debt
Non-defense discretionary
Defense
Other mandatory programs.
Medicaid

Let's break this down in the thread below.

"Politics is stupid".

Well, what we see of it is, yes. But what we see does not begin to represent how politics works.

Politics has NEVER changed. It has ALWAYS been the way it is now. The ONLY difference is that YOU are now involved.

So, where does that leave us?

This would be so much better if there was a link to confirm it wasn't a false assertion made by someone at home with holes in their socks.

I posted that meme yesterday, reposted from Morgan Freeman. It's a good one, for sure!

Don't forget to also go outside and play.

You used to love recess. (It was my favorite class too).

What happened? Did someone convince you that you have to work all the time?

GO TO THE PLAYGROUND TODAY.

Greta speaks for others - does not make the issue about what happened to her. That is just the OPPOSITE of what Trump does.

Israel is guilty of genocide. What are we going to do about that?

Nothing.
simonrosenberg.bsky.social
Greta Thunberg provides the perspective that most western media will not:

It’s not about a few hundred foreign nationals being mistreated by Israel for a few days.

It’s about the #GazaGenocide, deliberate denial of aid, and Israel’s flagrant breaches of international law.
strictlychristo.bsky.social
Greta Thunberg speaks to the press after being released from illegal detainment in Israel: "I could talk for a very, very long time about our mistreatment and abuses in our imprisonment. Trust me, but that is not the story.”
