The drawing on the right is my favorite drawing I’ve ever done, so I decided to redo it in my current style. I’m not sure which one I like better, but it’s exciting to see the difference that a few years makes.

The left image was a longer process to figure out how these two fit together and their shape, while the right was more about playing with color. Either way, it was fun and great and I love drawing these two

I just needed to write this down somewhere so I can move on with my day.
Text: “On a brisk day in November of 2020, I took my first ever trip to a lighthouse. I dressed up for the occasion, forgetting that the sand would likely find themselves between every fold of clothing I wore, and drove the forty five minutes to the secluded spot. Reaching the lighthouse, I found that the door was locked and, to my utter disappointment, the building was under maintenance. A sadness radiated from me, but there was also relief. Today would not be the day that I climbed to the top of the lighthouse and jumped. I’ll spare the details of my plan, but I was in one of the worst bouts of depression in my comparably short life. I thought that jumping meant that I could finally relax, to end what I thought was misery that I had caused. I liked the symbolism of a lighthouse, and thought it a fitting end to my anguish, but I know now that none of that relief I would feel would transfer to the ones I loved.” Text: “Sometimes, I still visit the lighthouse. There’s a comfort in realizing that it was not to be, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t check the door each time I go. I want that release, for the universe to say, “it’s okay, there’s still hope for you.” Today feels like a lighthouse day. “
