Everyone deserves a safe and dignified place to call home.

If you believe your rights as a tenant have been violated, please send us your stories.

At CA DOJ, we’ll continue to fight to protect tenants.

@cagovernornewsom.bsky.social has signed Sentator Hurtado’s #SB763 into law! This new law increases penalties for wealthy corporations looking to illegally profit at the cost of workers, consumers, and honest businesses.

We’re asking the court to reinstate our order preventing President Trump from federalizing the California National Guard as our case continues.

President Trump is seeking to deploy the California National Guard as his own personal, traveling police force, indefinitely, anywhere in the country.

California communities have no desire to see their streets turned into a training ground for the military.

Neither do our friends in D.C., Illinois, and Oregon.

I urge the court to see this political gamesmanship for what it is — and put an immediate stop to it before it goes any further.

MILITARIZATION OF AMERICAN CITIES

Had a great time kicking off Filipino American History Month at Alameda’s Filipino Island Festival!

Filipino history is American history.

And we’re proud of it.

This past June, we sued one of the largest landlords in CA for violating tenant protection laws.

Now, we’re asking tenants who’ve been exposed to unsafe housing conditions to share their stories with us at oag.ca.gov/report.

All California tenants have the right to safe living conditions.

Breaking: we’ve secured a court order BLOCKING Trump’s unlawful deployment of the California National Guard in Portland.

This fight isn’t over, but today’s rebuke of the President’s illegal actions is a step in the right direction.

The National Guard is not President Trump’s personal police force.

But Trump is not king—he cannot bend the law to his will.

We’ll continue fighting to uphold the rule of law and protect our people from this overreach.

Gov Newsom and I are joining AG Rayfield’s lawsuit to block the unlawful deployment of the California National Guard to Oregon.

Time and time again, President Trump has shown a clear disregard for the law and the facts on the ground in his efforts to militarize American cities.

This decision upholds a nationwide injunction in our lawsuit challenging the President’s attempt to end, with the stroke of a pen, the constitutional right to birthright citizenship.

We’ll continue to oppose this executive order until Trump’s attempt to unmake the Constitution is blocked completely
AG BONTA SECURES APPEALS COURT
DECISION AFFIRMING NATIONWIDE INJUNCTION IN BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP LAWSUIT

"The First Circuit reaffirmed what we already knew to be true: The President's attack on birthright citizenship flagrantly defies the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and a nationwide injunction is the only reasonable way to protect against its catastrophic implications.”

We’re suing El Cajon and its Police Department for violating CA’s law prohibiting sharing license plate data with out of state law enforcement.

When information about Californians leaves the state, we no longer have any say over it.
