We are “likely to succeed on the merits” said the district judge in the order on Friday to temporarily halt the Administration’s mass firings across federal agencies.

The government has until tomorrow to produce their comprehensive “large-scale” plans to the court.

A victory for the federal scientific workforce! We could not stand by while this irreparable harm continues at NSF, NOAA and all our scientific agencies.

TODAY the judge granted our request to temporarily HALT the mass firings at federal agencies under Trump’s Executive Order.

AGU has filed a new lawsuit to prevent the Administration’s dismantling of U.S. scientific agencies.

We’re proud to take this stand with our plaintiffs’ coalition for our federal workforce.

Science needs stability, not stopgaps.

A continuing resolution further weakens U.S. research, innovation, and public safety. AGU is taking action to defend science funding and protect federal scientists.

A Continuing Resolution Is a Blow to U.S. Science — and the Public
The American public deserves better. Science drives progress, but it can’t do that with stopgap funding and political gridlock. It’s..

Beyond the lab, she's an avid DIY enthusiast and reader, finding joy in home projects and quality time with loved ones (including her adorable fur babies!) 🏠❤️ #AGUEPSP #EPSPtakeover

Her next chapter? Chelsy aims to join USGS full-time, combining her passion for river science with her commitment to mentoring future generations of scientists 🌊
aguepsp.bsky.social
Through the USGS Pathways Internship Program, she's already making an impact in hydrology - working on sediment concentration estimates and invasive carp forecasting models 🔬
aguepsp.bsky.social
As a first-generation college student, she knows the power of good mentorship. That's why she helped create a free summer science camp at UIUC, complete with hands-on activities and even a NASA scientist Q&A! 🎓

From mentoring to research to life outside science - let's get to know the full picture of Chelsy's journey as an early career scientist! 🌟 #AGUEPSP #EPSPtakeover #ScienceMentoring
Slide titled 'MENTORSHIP AND OUTREACH' showing Chelsy's commitment to education. Features three components: research poster presentations from undergraduate research and NSF REU CZNet Science programs, and a promotional flyer for a free Earth, Society & Environment Summer Camp for Girls at UIUC. Text emphasizes her passion for mentoring as a first-generation college student and describes organizing a free camp with NASA scientist involvement. Slide titled 'CAREER GOALS' showing Chelsy in front of a bright window on her first day as a USGS Student Trainee in Hydrology under the Pathways Internship Program. Text describes her work including evaluating invasive carp forecasting models and estimating sediment concentrations using ADCPs Slide titled 'OUTSIDE OF SCIENCE...' showing Chelsy's personal life. Features two photos: one of Chelsy and her partner at a California sunset, and another of her two cats - one black and one grey - lounging together on a colorful blanket. Text describes enjoying time with partner, pets, friends, and family when not working.

By combining different monitoring techniques at various scales, Chelsy's work bridges crucial gaps in our understanding of how sediment moves through river systems 📊 #AGUEPSP #EPSPtakeover
aguepsp.bsky.social
This research is vital because sediment pollution impacts everything from water quality to fish populations. Understanding these dynamics helps us better manage our agricultural landscapes and protect our rivers 🌿
aguepsp.bsky.social
Her field setup is impressive! Automated pump samplers collect water samples, while sediment traps, tilt current meters, and stage recorders help measure how sediment moves between river channels and floodplains 🔬
aguepsp.bsky.social
In intensively managed landscapes (IMLs), she tracks how agricultural activities influence sediment movement. Her study site? The Upper Sangamon River Basin, where she monitors both upstream and downstream locations 🗺️

Exploring rivers at every scale! Chelsy's research in Central Illinois examines how sediment moves through our waterways, from entire watersheds down to specific river reaches 🌊 #AGUEPSP #EPSPtakeover #RiverScience
Research slide titled 'MY RESEARCH' showing two key visuals: A diagram of Intensively Managed Landscapes (IMLs) from Kumar et al., 2018 illustrating land use, climate change, and ecological impacts, and a map of the Upper Sangamon River Basin in Central Illinois showing upstream and downstream gaging stations. Text explains research on sediment dynamics in IMLs and between different stream locations. Slide titled 'Watershed Scale' featuring photos of water sampling equipment. Main image shows an automated pump sampler mounted on a bridge with a pump intake extending into the river. Inset shows the sampler device itself, and below is a row of numbered water sample bottles containing sediment samples of varying turbidity Slide titled 'Reach Scale' showing a winter/early spring floodplain photo with labeled equipment: sediment trap, tilt current meter, stage recorder, and floodplain siphon sampler. Text describes research exploring sediment dynamics across different geomorphic environments in the floodplain during flood events.
