Heavy snowfall paralyzes our town's public transport and causes chaos on the roads.

When I switched my career in 2009 from research to open access, Twitter was instrumental in building my knowledge, finding my community and participating in the fast-paced changes in scholarly communication. Today I am deleting all my tweets, thousands of them. It is the end of an era for me.

My husband decided to give Cal Cestis a new look and oh my... look at that! A Jedi with a mullet and a tache!

For each election I have a long and chat with a dear friend in LA. We prepare beforehand and show up with our info. Plenty of morning coffee for her and afternoon tea for me and then we discuss, evaluate and decide how to vote. It is a duty, a privilege and a joy to be able to do this every time.

Just wrote two condolence mails to friends who lost loved ones, while quarantined in the bedroom to protect my husband as I just returned from a conference. Not quite the easy, lazy saturday morning I would like. But I got rewarded with a breakfast tray from my wonderful other half. And I'm grateful

Sunny Sunday morning. Time to write a real letter to an old friend. Buetten stationary, my Jacques Herbin glass pen and a damn fine cup of coffee should make this fun. I know my friend will smile when she finds the result in her postbox on the other side of the world. #fountainpen #friendship

Today I told a young colleague about Aaron Swartz (they had never heard of him). Revisiting his tragic story reminded me how important our open science, open access work continues to be and also to create and cherish good moments while we are at it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaron_S...

I left the birdsite last year. Surprisingly, I don't miss it at all with its constant drama. It's nice to swing by here to learn from and about interesting folks or to check in at Madtodon where a lot of my colleagues went. The tone on both sites is still friendly for the most part, it seems.

In the 17th century, rebel leader Stenka Razin moved his militant troops from the south of Russia, where he had taken several cities, on Moscow. Didn't make it all the way, he was betrayed. He was executed on Red Square #Wagner #Russia #Mutiny https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stenka_Razin?wprov=sfla1

Watched Ep 1 of #Marvel #secretinvasion. I am still a little superhero-fatigued but it is nice to see #nickfury and a few others again, however briefly in some cases. (I wonder if the war in Ukraine made things difficult for the series...)

Watching "Remains of the Day". It's basically Downton Abbey for grown-ups.
