i’m very curious to see what active user numbers look like vs twitter over time.

Threads got lots of signups too, then people drop off. I’m hoping this one is more sustainable

how are they defining users? signups at all? daily actives? monthly actives?

when you optimize for engagement without guardrails for satisfaction or a longer term metrics framework - you get polarizing, stressful content as that drives short term gains at the expense of long term objectives.

It will destroy the platform long-term if they don’t fix it.

Social media platforms typically optimize for two things over all else:
1. session length
2. daily users

links drive people out of the app reducing usage. In-app browsers that you can close back into the app help w/ this. Twitter is understaffed so they just down-ranked links
