My day started with a survivor sharing her lived experience to get her voice heard.

Another phone call from a survivor currently going through the court process with professionals not understanding coercive control.

We've still got a long way to go!

This would have been a lifeline for me!
One of the things which stopped me from leaving was the financial aspect and also that my bosses were aware of the situation and unsupportive. I was taken into a meeting and told to up my performance or I would be out. I had recently been severely assaulted.
Domestic abuse victims would be entitled to paid time off work under a proposed law due to be presented in Parliament.
"Safe leave" would enable survivors to take time to find a place of safety, deal with health issues, and attend police interviews.

To tackle domestic abuse, we must confront the myths that allow it to persist.

It takes the average woman four years to leave an abusive relationship - but for Jewish women, it takes ten.

Exactly right. Trying to use race to start a dangerous debate lets the victims down. Men who harm women do so using the exact same tactics no matter what race or religion they are. This is a point which most of the media misses. As a survivor of VAWG the victim blaming systems enable abusers
We must stop referring to the grooming gangs as “Muslim” gangs. Why are journalists doing this? There is nothing to suggest religion played a part. We don’t call the vast majority of groomers “Christian groomers” or “Christian paedophiles”. Grooming gangs involving some Pakistani men is accurate.

Why is it when we see issues within some Muslim communities, the narrative becomes there’s something wrong with Islam? Yet this week we have heard of some of the worst child abuse scandals at the highest level of the English church. Are we hearing about that being a problem with Christianity?

MYTH: There is a safe way to strangle

Whether it is consensual or non consensual strangulation is a lack of oxygen to the brain. The impact on the brain and psychological impact is significant and we really need to wake up to this.

There is no safe way to strangle.

The woman who threw the milkshake at Farage has been sentenced to the SAME EXACT punishment as my abuser got for an assault on me which included strangulation.

Infuriating.

Throwing a drink at a man and almost killing a woman are the same? And people are calling for her to be imprisoned?
