Proper introductory post:

Hi, I'm Quentin, he/him, I'm primarily a writer, but I do a bunch of other stuff, too. Cosplay, art, photography, filmmaking, the works.

And I've got a pretty great dog named Renfield.

It reads: Alex: who said you got to give me a curfew? Steph: I'm not waiting all night. I've got plans with Dan. Direction: Alex seems to loosen, shoots her a grin. Alex: oh. Okay. I'll try to be back, then. Since your boyfriend is more important than breaking this story about these poor tragically murdered kids- Steph: You're such an ass! Direction: Steph pulls them off the road, down past a sign for a trailhead connected to the LOWRY FAMILY CAMPGROUNDS. It's faded, paint chipped, the wood beginning to rot. To Alex, it's home. End ID.

Random musing on detransition narratives
Random musing, not a final thought, but—I’ve been wondering how much the word “detransition” exists mainly to Other trans bodies. For many detransitioners, even and perhaps especially those who aren’t doing so for safety or political reasons but to reaffirm a gender identity they once claimed, they’re still transitioning. The self they “return” to is never the exact self they had before; even the act of exploring other gender expressions changes you. You come back with more knowledge, and hopefully more clarity of self. Like all of us, they’ve moved through different ways of being. We can never return to a past, only move forward as a synthesis of these explorations. But the “detransitioner” narratives weaponized by anti-trans politics cling to the idea of an “original” identity that is ruined by transition—usually framed around medical changes like HRT or surgery—to claim that gender-affirming care is harmful because it breaks some imagined natural state that a detrantioner can never return to now because they have been “tricked” intro transition. Yet no one can ever return to an untouched original self. We all change. We all move forward, not back. The real issue facing many“detransitioners” is often a material one: they often step away from transition because the path offered to them didn’t fit. Instead of being supported in exploring their own terms, many were handed a narrow, binary script of how we think of gender affirming care (get top surgery, start hrt, wear these clothes to affirm your gender). Our culture loves to prescribe identities, not enable people to discover them. Can't imagine being Ben stiller when you're going out to the first location you've scouted for your Evil Corporation / Duality of Personhood show and it turns out to be the biggest evillest dualitiest building to have ever existed on the east coast. And no ones ever even filmed a movie there before
