What a start to 2025 last night!For around an hour, the sky was filled with the light of the Aurora Borealis…if you were lucky enough to have clear skies, as here in West Cork.
Will there be a repeat tonight?
So far the geomagnetic activity isn’t showing signs of something happening.

Baltimore, West Cork.
The quietness today broken only by a flurry of activity for the teatime ferry to Sherkin - residents going home with poinsettias, and the ferry from Cape Clear - workmen returning to the mainland.
Meanwhile, featured in tonights Masterchef, Dede’s door was firmly closed

In the aftermath of Storm Darragh, the regular beach clean threw up fishing line, fishing nets, net repair trimmings, plastic bottles, shotgun cartridge cases. All the usual suspects.
Meanwhile, the sea was flat calm.

Whilst Storm Darragh moves in on the British Isles, here in South West Cork, it is a little more protected from the north west winds but still the rain drives in and we have power down.

A trip down the N71 to Cork South-West, in the aftermath of the Irish Election.
Posters for the candidates can still be seen tied to poles, although some now are being removed.
