Following this rabbit hole, the research suggested that each time we introduce new technology, like a calculator or computer for example, we are offloading or at least shifting the constant focus of our brains, and thereby also shifting the way it adapts.

The idea of these papers was that technology has aided in our evolution, and the arguments are compelling. The authors talked about how papyrus and writing instruments allowed us to offload a ton of cognitive load by not having to memorize so much, leaving our brains to develop strengths elsewhere

It was called Get Limitless and it was about cognitive enhancement.
I used to be really into bio-hacking and I dug in hard enough to do TONS of research (heavily laden with confirmation biases...I was young) and write a whole book on the topic.

As a non-developer technical person (low-code 'engineer') who works with developers, I concur. The writers and creatives tend to get much better and more reliable outputs from LLMs.

I'm not sure I agree with this depiction. Given how integrated texting is to our existence I think we'll grow an extra thumb.
