I basically don’t trust a supervisor until they do something off (in a good way). Like something goes wrong and they support me unlike others? Oh dang, it’s a real human! We found one and not a narcissist!

I feel like it’s extra for me because I’m a tall woman and I’m a “let’s get this done” personality which some people find intimidating. (Basically all of me is potentially threatening except that I was raised southern)

had to deal w some shit over the past month… and I got triggered into doing a “oh golly I’m just a ignorant girl” response in a couple instances to protect myself. dear reader, I am not. I was doing grades above me math in grade school, I’m good at a LOT and I’m a goal driven competent supervisor.

Also, I challenge you to really try and focus when you’re working on your project. I think a lot of people ending wasting time on phone notifications and “listening” to Netflix etc. really dial in and try to work hard. A lot of people enjoy having ideas but never make the thing. You can, dial in.

I think there’s a balance too be found. If you’re too soft on yourself you won’t make anything. If I feel resistance I’ll often force myself to sit down and plug in and I usually move past it. But I know also the point where I’ve gone too far and need to Ferris bueller or else.
