Hi! I’m a craft teacher and maker from Helsinki, Finland. I love pretty things and am here for the sewing, knitting, fashion, art & other creative content and people.
I’m also an aspiring gardener and a dedicated plant lover 🧶🪡✂️🌱
I finally finished the patchwork curtain of my dreams ☁️ The fabrics are linen and all seams are flat-felled. It took a while to plan and make, but I’m super happy with the result.

Made a linen cap for my 3-year-old son. It’s too small. The pattern is the All caps cap by Minimalist Machinist. While I really love the design and the construction, the measurements were off, mostly because I used the wrong kind of interfacing. What a disappointment!

Sewing basics makes me feel like a superhero. Especially when the fabric is free and the pattern is from a borrowed magazine. Could have done a better job at pattern matching the stripes, but I don’t mind because I was so lucky with the neckband.

My Christmas cactus is blooming for the first time! I grew this one from a propagation I got a year ago.

Teaching sweater knitting today in my brand new sweater ✨

Finished a #knitting project and I literally used up ALL the yarn. This little thread is all that was left after casting off. What a thriller 🫣 This has never happened to me before, I’m usually left with spare yarn after finishing.

My grandmother Reeta (b. 1912) in the 1920s and 1940s (on the right). My mom found these pictures and I don’t think I’ve seen them before. She looks so chic even though she was a farmer’s daughter. The only one of her siblings to get an education.

Taking a little trip with my family. I don’t have a driver’s licence so I can just knit 🙌🏼 #knitting

Look I made a puffy bag! This is my third and probably best #bestiebag 🍿 Quilting the outer fabric really brings out the 🍌 shape. This time I also used a webbing instead of sewing the straps from the self fabric. What a fun make!

I taught a darning and mending class this weekend and here’s a couple of my students’ makes. I was so inspired by their excitement and creativity ✨ Crafting brings people together and is such a unique medium for people to share their experiences, memories and emotions.

I’m currently making a quilted #bestiebag by #bfpatterns 🍿 I found the outer fabric with woven red and white stripes at my local recycling center. It took a while to quilt all the pieces, but I really like the puffy result! I added extra 4 cm seam allowance because quilting can shrink the pieces.

Preparing for a mending class I’m going to teach next week.

Friday night fun ✨ I’m new to quilting, but already pretty hooked because it’s such a great way to use all my lovely scraps. I’m using the playful placemats pattern by Cedar quilt co.

How do you organize and store your sewing patterns? I’ve been sewing actively since 2008, so I have A LOT of patterns. To tackle the mess, I’ve started to store them in envelopes. I draw a little sketch on top of them so that it’s quick to find what I’m looking for.

Ok, sleeping was definitely a great idea! I like this so much better now that I try it on more properly. The only big issue now is the sleeve plackets, which I accidentally sewed on the wrong side of the sleeve and therefore the closing is wrong-sided. Should I chop the sleeves or redo the plackets?

This is the nearly finished button-up I posted about earlier. I…. hate it 😅 Lots of fiddly details like welt pockets that I love to sew and I’m happy about, but the overall sewing experience was a little chaotic. The fabric is a midweight rami I’ve made into pants before. Maybe I’ll sleep on it.

I’ve been teaching a children’s wear sewing class this weekend and it’s been so inspiring to see how excited my students are about sewing and what they’re making. One of those classes where I really don’t feel like I’m working because it’s so enjoyable. Sewing people are the best ❤️

Recycling center finds ✨ I found a striped heavy cotton twill for 2 € that will be the most perfect #bestiebag 🥐 I also got two 90s sewing magazines with some great button-up, jacket and dress patterns. Can’t wait to try them out! #sewing #vintagesewingpatterns #thrifting

Doing some pattern alterations to a great button up shirt pattern from a vintage sewing magazine. I drafted a new collar and changed the neckline a bit. The second picture shows a shirt I made from this pattern without any modifications.
