Just a prime example of how without *power* - in the Arendt sense of the ability to harness collective effort without direct coercion - governing becomes extremely difficult and costly.

These guys have a lot of *violence* but they are hemorrhaging power and they do not have *enough* violence.

MLK Jr. quote on the flaws of the ultimately unsuccessful Albany movement (which @jamellebouie.net mentioned in his video today) feels quite prescient

Is this insane libbing out? Yes. Is it damn near identical to some conversations my now-retired pediatrician mother has had with parents? Also yes.

Maybe because the stakes are higher, no time to screw around with “horserace” or “gotcha” style coverage, but the real - often life & death - consequences of political actions.

Focusing on the people affected, not the politicians

Remember the other day when I was saluting my friend Greg Ketter, owner of Minneapolis’ DreamHaven Books? This is him the following day. Greg will never say this, so I will — now is a great time to buy books from DreamHaven. Support Americans who stand up vs. 🧊. dreamhavenbooks.com

And I know, I hear you read to shout, 'but ACAB!' and I get it.

But you, the blue-team protestor, do not need the cops to be heroes. It'd be nice, but you don't need it.

The *regime* needs them to be villains. You just need them to either 1) just do their jobs or 2) decide to be somewhere else.

Shockingly, a lot of the guys who've convinced themselves that they're the thin blue line between civilians and the untold violence of savages might actually believe some of that and could likewise be convinced that the federal thugs trampling over their turf might be those savages.
