some is sure, most isn’t. if someone posts an objectively bad take sometimes you just gotta sigh, block and move on. the only time i think it’s useful to debate is when they’re spreading damaging misinformation and they have to be corrected, but even then it’s not a “debate”

this ‘censorship’ rhetoric imo is primarily pushed by right wingers that are butt hurt about being blocked on bluesky for their (you guessed it… bigoted!) opinions. this argument that hate speech should be debated is pointless

There’s things that are objectively bad (e.g. racism, homophobia) i have no problem with that being removed - not censorship

social media platforms removing non hateful political opinions (e.g. criticism of israel) - censorship, obviously bad

but tbh i don’t really think that’s happening

perhaps it is. But i don’t believe its right to call being blocked censorship - its consequence. Even when drunk you have to take accountability for your actions. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom of bigotry, something elon is blatantly ignoring.

i disagree man, the reason why a lot of people (especially right leaning) say that is because bigotry wasn’t tolerated before elon took over, but now anyone can say whatever fucked up thing they think about - whilst simultaneously left leaning accounts have been suspiciously getting less engagement…

i think we’ve been on the internet for so long we can predict what people online will say, so to protect peace of mind ,which is hard enough to do as is nowadays, people can just block and mute which is absolutely fine! meaningful discussions can be had whenever - the world doesn’t stop spinning!

when journalistic integrity is being directly targeted by a propaganda platform, i think leaving said platform and complaining is justified
