As for the preacher man from Contact. He's about to kill real people to stop his religion from being damaged by the existence of extra terrestrials and has zero to do with AI. Not acknowledging the sentience of off the shelf chips is not the same as being scared of alien beings.

It's funny. When I watched the Animatrix twenty two years ago I thought that scene you're showing of people killing and raping humanoid robots was an excuse to portray over the top violence and demeaned the human imagery it was referencing. AND I STILL FEEL THAT. NVidia chips aren't people.

Gavin Newsome is not going to give me 70-80% of what I want. I doubt he’ll give me even 10% of what I want. The bigger question is what’s the percentage of stuff he’ll give me that I don’t want? A state unsafe for LGBT people and run by tech oligarchs is a big part of that number.

I know it's funny to show how useless GenAI is, but even using it to do that is environmentally unsound and pumps up their usage numbers. People need to start thinking of AI as litter. Maybe the thing you toss on the ground isn't much, but when a lot of people think that way it makes a giant mess.

I wouldn't even call anything AI does "art". It's just slop, no matter what form it comes in. You can't call it writing because it isn't written. You can't call it paintings because it isn't painted. It's generated text, imagery, and sounds with zero value.

I can’t be sure at this size, but the style, single line weight, pole not quite held in the hand, bland pose, and font scream GenAI to me. That would be a real shame if so.

I can't work up the energy to be mad about the AI actress, because I assume in a few weeks we'll learn she's actually powered by a whole team of underpaid animators brought in to compensate for the "AI"'s errors.
