If the interval was independent of the variable, you could define f'(x) as a sum-of-squares polynomial and apply Putinar's Positivestallensatz to force the certificate of positivity, i.e. f'(x)>0, just on the interval. But having the interval depending on the decision variable is tricky here...

I think we all just miss being a kid. The world has always been insane.

Congratulations to us! I just went through a similar experience! Something that helps me quite a bit before flying is to check on any flight tracking app the huge amount of planes flying at every single moment, every single day, without incidences.

As a side note, I also recommend Orwell's book Homage to Catalonia, in case you haven't read yet ;)

reality eventually reasserts itself. "smart" is always what it takes to adapt to one's environment, whether that's preserving attention span despite dopamine saturation (the past ten years), or acquiring independent thinking despite automated reasoning (the next ten years)

If a possible cause is unlikely and currently shows no traces, I would not put it in the focus of the media nor the investigations. That doesn't mean we shouldn't talk about it or investigate it later if other more plausible causes have been exhausted. it just means to be more pragmatic imo.
