It’s late 90s (1998), but DMX - It’s Dark And Hell Is hot.

1. The storytelling was incredible.
2. It doesn’t have a dance/party single.
3. DMX sounded completely different than anything else. Everyone else tried to sound smooth. DMX tried to sound like sandpaper (positive).

The worst part is actually lower in the article where these “micro-retirements” that everyone is joking about being a vacation, are *unpaid*.
