This is what American conservatism has always been about. This is what it has always wanted. Bill Buckley covered it up with a fake British accent and tons of Edmund Burke quotes, but he was MAGA to his core. The idea that this is some aberration is laughable.

They voted to abolish democracy, the rule of law, and the international order that has kept the peace for 80 years. They voted to enslave themselves to corporations and the billionaires who own them. They also voted to empower Russia and destroy Ukraine.

Despite the polls, nearly every person who voted for Trump last year would do it again if given the chance. They voted for all of this and are the direct cause of the new reality in which we all now live.
