I *do* this this could be an attempt to muddy the narrative by appealing to the knowledge of the gun owning right (“libs don’t know about the sig issue, of course our brave agents have to respond with maximum force when they hear gunfire”). Especially with how broad the negative response has been.

I am suspect of this, in the video where Pretti’s gun is visible it’s pretty directly pointed at the ground at the time of the first shot, I was not able to see any signs of an impact (I am not an expert and this is just watching the video on my phone, so huge grain of salt, just saying what I saw).
