Dev of #XenithAwakening
I post weekly updates on the game dev progress of Xenith Awakening, or other 3d art projects I'm working on.

At least they escaped, so we know the true ending of that game is canon.

Because the difficulty settings are modular, players will be able to adjust them to their liking using these presets as a starting point.
November 15, 2025 at 6:11 PM
Impossible, sets all difficulty settings to maximum difficulty. Everything is 1 hit death, Ironman mode is turned on, enemies have harder movesets.

Impossible mode is meant as a way for players to push themselves to do a full run of the game, without taking damage. There may be a way to take 2 hits
November 15, 2025 at 6:11 PM
Standard is where everything is at 0% adjustment, everything is default.

Hard is where enemy damage and health will be turned up, enemies will have harder movesets, Hazards become instant death like in classic Megaman games and you get fewer extra lives after hitting 0 and going to the HQ.
November 15, 2025 at 6:11 PM
The story difficulty would be the easiest, enemies deal minimal damage, and have minimal health, as well as additional platforms and simplified movesets. Lives are off.

Easy would have the damage and health a bit higher than Story, and not have the additional platforms by default.

as a side note, I pre-ordered the game, so I could pay it off over time, and am still gonna play it, I just hope I'm wrong about the desert.

I miss when pre-orders were more easily usable as a pre-financing type thing, could pay off a game over a few months, then pick it up on release.

tbf, that game was horrid. I can understand people having ptsd from it, but this isn't the same dev team as that game, and Retro has done well with NPCs before.

I'm more worried about the desert that seems to only exist to justify the bike, based on what they've shown us of it.

The immersion to me is in being on an alien world with the few survivors of whatever event happened at the research base. At least he's not saying button names like some games.

I was honestly expecting there to be NPCs the whole time, since Prime 3 had a number of them.
November 14, 2025 at 9:01 PM
At least this time, Samus actually acts like herself and not subservient to the annoying npc.

What we've seen, I'm guessing the guy is, hopefully, only gonna be there in the tutorial, and that the other npcs are not as bad.
November 14, 2025 at 8:53 PM
yea, he's nowhere near as bad as the horrid Other M writing. Like, that game felt like they didn't even understand who Samus is as a character, this at least feels like the writers understand her.
November 14, 2025 at 8:48 PM
I feel like he is SUPPOSED to be an "annoying" character. Seems like he might just be there for the tutorial zone, which... honestly, at least it's not the PED Suit chair again.
November 14, 2025 at 8:46 PM
gonna be honest... having watched the full video of the gameplay... he doesn't bother me that much. I would rather have this than another "Other M" level of bs if we're gonna have npcs. Samus actually acted like herself when interacting with this guy, and is her proper tall self.
November 14, 2025 at 8:46 PM
True, but I'm just saying that Retro might be able to pull off a good atmosphere even with the NPCs. maybe not on the level of Annihilation, but still something good. Especially since we went from a whole base full of Troopers, down to what the trailers showed of like, about 5 people so far.
November 14, 2025 at 8:39 PM
That was the feeling I got too, it's clearly a tutorial zone, and honestly kinda less egregious than Prime 3's "you can't leave the chair until you complete our PED Suit tutorial"
November 14, 2025 at 8:35 PM
also, I liked the characterization they had with Samus giving him the translation data, just no nonsense, silent communication of "hand over the datachip" transfer the data, and hands it back to him.
November 14, 2025 at 8:33 PM
I've played every Metroid game, and honestly... he seems like a smaller issue than the potentially oversized and empty desert that feels out of place.

The desert feels like it was put here specifically to justify the bike.
November 14, 2025 at 8:32 PM
but it's not "Nintendo" it's Retro pulling it off, and they did pretty good with the past Metroid Prime games, even 3 has good atmosphere.
November 14, 2025 at 8:30 PM
my old favorite was the Wing Star, though I am curious about the Transform Star in the new game.
November 14, 2025 at 8:20 PM
seriously. I saw a video where someone didn't even recognize Rex Wheelie and claimed they played the old one all the time.
for EVERY returning star and wheelie during the directs, I was like "welcome back" or "welcome home" because it is so good to see them again.
November 14, 2025 at 8:14 PM
Nah, this is just where you find homegrown furries.
November 14, 2025 at 5:26 PM
Same, I want to see the constellations!
November 14, 2025 at 5:24 PM
Also, the way Samus is interacting with him feels perfectly in-line with her character, unlike a certain other game.

In the long run, I kinda just don't see the problem with this. Feels on par with what we had in Prime 3, just with less hardware limitations.
November 14, 2025 at 5:03 PM
Honestly... the federation troopers don't worry me as much in this one because of what we see here. Seems like we take him to a specific location, and he kinda bunkers down there.

Even after the overview trailer, I think the Desert feels the most out of place. It just seems too big and empty.
