A modern kadomatsu and ikebana from my mother🎍
Clean lines of pine with subtle gold and red accents, and seasonal flowers arranged with space and gentle movement.
A quiet, beautiful way to welcome the new year✨

Eyelashes freezing, fingers numb—even through my gloves. Alaska on the winter solstice. A short walk along Eagle River at −6°F, ice everywhere, a bald eagle overhead🦅 Harsh and beautiful✨
Happy holiday season🎄❄️

I went for a short walk during my lunch break today. At 2°F (-17°C )everything looked incredibly beautiful, but the air was so cold it felt like it was stinging my lungs with every breath. Experiencing winter in Alaska is both harsh and awe-inspiring.❄️🥶 #Alaska #BreathTakingCold

I found a beautiful handmade crochet piece that really captures the Alaskan spirit. The hat is beautifully woven with Alaska fox fur and feels so special. I’m so excited to send them to my family in Japan to share a little Alaska vibe.🧶#AlaskaLife

Gorgeous red auroras tonight over the Goldstream Valley in Fairbanks, Alaska. A rare show, strong enough for the red emission to be clearly visible to the eye.

As winter deepens in Alaska,
the days grow shorter and the body slows down. Today I took a quiet day to rest—and my husband surprised me with these roses. Their warmth brightened my heart. Thank you for this gentle light. 🌹❄️💗

I finally found a new friend — a Norfolk Island Pine for our home! Picked it up from a lovely neighborhood plant shop filled with lemon and lime trees at Anchorage & Eagle River’s premiere greenhouse. I almost forgot — this is Alaska! 🍋🌲 #NorfolkIslandPine #IndoorPlants #AlaskaLife #EagleRiver

Training for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) has begun.
Alaska has one of the highest rates of child abuse in the U.S., and the role of advocating for the legal rights and best interests of abused or neglected children is deeply important.

If there was ever a time that we need Indigenous stories told in our own language & imbued with our values - that time is NOW. It is with great honor & humility that we will premiere our short #TwoOldWomen film at #HIFF45 w/ our Kanaka relatives. 🙏🏽 Mahsi’choo to author #VelmaWallis for her support!
