Why Covid Is Spreading Again This Summer

Here's the latest variant picture for the "Global - Other" countries, to mid-July.

The NB.1.8.1 "Nimbus" variant remained dominant, but fell to finish at 49%.

XFG.* "Stratus" grew strongly to 36%.

Corona koncentrationen i spildevand er desværre i stigning.

I am very grateful for this exciting and inspiring collaboration, and delighted to share our paper, describing the infectious challenges humans have encountered over the last 12,000+ years in Eurasia, the interplay between lifestyle & pathogenic exposures, & the rise of zoonoses

Great work by Josette documenting the NB.1.8.1 vs XFG. Huge differences by country, likely reflecting different immune histories, namely, a longer history of infection in Europe, North America, & South-Central Asia (favoring XFG) than in East Asia, New Zealand, & Australia (favoring NB.1.8.1).

I have made an overview of the battle between XFG and NB.1.8.1 in the world

Samples collected on/after the 12th of May

NB.1.8.1 with a very high percentage in some SouthEast-Asian countries, and big in Oceania as well

XFG big in India/Pakistan/Bangladesh

Mixed in North America and Europe
