And finally, I would like to point out that despite the fact that the sparrow is in the season pass, we have in a collection that shows all sparrows including ones that were from previous season passes, as well as a method of getting items from previous season passes.

Narrative reasons aside, I'm not saying that it couldn't have been in the game what I am offering is a different perspective that a lot of people seem to just ignore and are currently having a knee-jerk reaction to.

Bael's backstory shows that most guardians don't think about that. Thus, adding on to what seems like humanity's growing distrust of guardians now.

Why does everything and I mean everything has to be front loaded for the audience to understand? Again, the main focus of the expansion story is that Drifter Hattie prophecy and the Vanguard did not act on it.

What a lot of people don't seem to remember but I do, is the whole kerfuffle with the lore cards being on a separate thing. Granted I read those, but most people didn't.

Now Bungie puts these lore pieces in the game and suddenly now the problem is no one reads it?

If I had a guesstimate, at least 1/3. But also and I would like to point this out again, there are other games that do the exact same thing Destiny does and this isn't just a Destiny problem.

Elder ring does it, most souls games do that, expedition 33 does that.

To end this "Wall of Text", I will say quite honestly what I say is just an opinion, just like yours, just like Paul's. I'm not trying to convince but to offer a different PoV, which is what both the Sparrow and the lore book are doing. If people don't agree then
a man with his hands on his head says yeah well you know that 's just like your opinion man ..

I will always encourage a different way of telling a story - Big or Small. And this isn't something that Bungie only does, there are other studios that do the same things, most recently Expedition 33 does the same thing with notes most won't go out of their way to find.
December 9, 2025 at 5:30 PM
doesn't mean it shouldn't. Things like this can also lead to others actually taking the time to read the other things that are also in the game itself. And this is coming from a guy who doesn't always read the lore bits in items.
December 9, 2025 at 5:30 PM
Again, I'm not arguing that it's shouldn't be in the game in another form but I do think we are dismissing other forms a video game can tell it's story. All because we feel that majority of players won't read (which honestly is problem in of itself for several reasons) lore stuff on items and books

I mean, I wouldn't call it a waste. A lore book going through the inner workings of our Big Bad inside the game is then brought up by blog post and word of mouth. The fact that we are discussing it and that it was good to even bring up by others means it has done it's job.

But when the expansion of the story already has a lot going on I think finding out more of our foes later where they can flex their narrative muscles a little more isn't all that bad.
December 9, 2025 at 3:38 PM
The lore books allow for a different narrative device and perspective to be shown. This one in particular does show Bael's rocky descent into madness and Would it have been cool to show a quick flash of him meeting his mom again? Yeah, I'm not arguing.
December 9, 2025 at 3:38 PM
Again, I'm not saying that it wouldn't be nice to have it shown in game or via some voice work but I also think it wouldn't have hit so hard if we didn't read it and people like yourself or content creators like Byf and Evaze didn't bring it up.
December 9, 2025 at 3:38 PM
The lore books that they add (in the game I will like to point out) allows them to tell those additional stories without bloating the main one with so much. It also allows for different ways to tell a narrative - Truth to power wouldn't have made that much of an impact if it was just a cut scene.
December 9, 2025 at 2:50 PM
Take for instance this one which was already a story centered on Drifter and his handling of the nines prophecy while also side story of the Vanguard handling of it, the introduction of 4 new characters AND the continuation of The Fate Saga as a whole. That's a lot.
December 9, 2025 at 2:50 PM
I would have to respectfully disagree. Sure, more story shown via cutscenes would be nice or VA would be nice but not everything needs to be front loaded when there is already a full story in the expansion story itself.
December 9, 2025 at 2:50 PM
Is it hidden away or...you know in the lore book pages that they give a notification to while you are playing the game and are going to read anyway?

Like they have been doing.
December 9, 2025 at 2:26 PM
Or even no players because most already did it and there isn't much of a reason to run it back. I think adding it with the reward being the exotic class item on first clear would be nice. You still gotta run the exotic mission to unlock target farming but I think that would go a long way.
