JK Rowling doesn't get gender. She also has problems with understanding personality. We show that the Sorting Hat Quiz (which is made by her) is bad at predicting personality. Don't get your psych knowledge from fiction authors people (unless they are really good at that stuff).
Harry Potter and personality assessment: The utility of the Sorting Hat Quiz in personality traits’ assessment

Some research is inspired by mundane things. For example, a study I co-led was inspired by the rainbow socks my partner wears. Read the article describing the project to learn how autism, the psyche, queerness, and the wearing of queer symbols are connected!

If Superman were around, he would’ve stopped the bullets from hitting Charlie Kirk, then set him down gently… right on top of a cactus, for a few days of reflection.

In Poland a lot of people don't care about charlie kirk. Just like charlie kirk didn't care for the well-being of any minority (perhaps not even a hyperbole) in the US. Including the polish minority. Good for us, it's not worth being sad about this person. His family too, they supported his efforts.

Some in my country (poland) call election day a “festival of democracy.” I find that egocentric. There’s nothing festive about being part of a persecuted minority 🏳️‍🌈, spending the day fearing that the outcome could empower someone who threatens your basic human rights.

Camouflaging, exhibited by masking, is an autistic individual’s strategy to blend into society, deriving from a "need" to pass as non-autistic. Individuals declare it's a source of positive social outcomes and negative reactions. The study focused on camouflaging’s consequences on one’s well-being.

Cancelling the Wonder Woman game is just pathetic.

We need her to remind us about A LOT of stuff.

If you want to play as Wonder Woman, remember that there is still JL Heroes on the PS2 and other consoles. Fun if a bit simple.

Trump creating laws that make only two genders exist is like that guy who wanted legislators to force Pi to be acknowledged as 3.2. No matter what passess in some parliament, the facts stay the same. Pi is equal to 3.1415... and there are more than two genders.

Me and my friends published an article on personality traits and their connection to offering free hugs at cons.
This was one my favorite research projects i ever took part in. It was partially inspired by one of your videos on SciShow Psych @hankgreen.bsky.social. Can you guess which?

Escapism is a powerful motivator in many activities, particularly gaming. Our research suggests that while escaping into video games can have undesirable side effects, it can also lead to affective benefits!

How do you deal with the fear, that you will get a bad therapist? I would like to go to therapy, but the idea of meeting a homophobe or someone who practices suboptimal therapy techniques really gets to me.
As someone who knows about that stuff it seems unavoidable (I live in Poland).

I recently read some study results that suggest that trigger warnings do not work for reducing negative emotions and perhaps they shouldnt be used in education.

Alright, but its also about giving people a choice if they want to see something that will hurt them. Don't forget that.
