Agree with your point, from what I can tell, it was the police who started the call for protests to stop because of claimed resourcing constraints and it spiralled from there (official Jewish communal responses have been slow because of Yom Kippur) www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

Exclusive: Organisers say protest will go ahead as planned and it is up to Met whether or not it prioritises arrests

I wonder how much it changes society to have thousands of families with a score to settle. If Smotrich's origin story/raison d'etre is Gush Katif, then this will have long standing implications. And then there are the security implications of all this for ministers and ex-ministers...

I heard (through Israeli relatives) after a botched Israeli Army rescue operation, Gallant (then minister of defence), called the father of the dead hostage. The father of the dead hostage that Gallant is not forgiven and he would pursue Gallant to the ends of the earth...

Don't really want to relitigate this, but I think May set unrealistic "Hard Brexit" expectations at the very beginning of her term (New Iron Lady/citizens of nowhere speech) and the could never live up to those expectations.

Billionaires are self selecting. Normal people, after earning enough to ensure that they and their children never have to work again (say, around $100 million), would stop and turn to other pursuits. But the kind of person who keeps pushing to become even richer...

I.e. it's not that they don't claim to speak on behalf of Jews worldwide, it's that the State of Israel supersedes/supplants the Jewish people?

I'm hesitant to place too much importance on ideology, but do you think there's something where Zionism was supposed to create the New Jew (Muskeljudentum), and due to Shlilat hagalut the diaspora are just unimportant?

Great example of how analogue through it's limitations gives you a quantitative proxy for quality. What u gonna say for digital - I used 0.02% of my hard disk?!

Even if it didn't happen in this case, the fact that it was so believable just goes to show how messed up things have become. Basically it's scary that it could've been true.
